If you receive qualifying military orders, you may be able to end your lease early under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). This article explains what qualifies and exactly how to submit your request so it can be processed without delays.
When This Applies
You may qualify for early termination under SCRA if you:
Enter active military service, or
Receive PCS orders or deployment orders for 90 days or more
What You Must Submit
To start the process, submit everything through the Online Tenant Portal:
Tenant Request Form – Notice to Vacate
A copy of your official military orders
Important: Orders must be valid and official. Incomplete or invalid documents can delay processing.
When the Termination Takes Effect
SCRA timing is calculated like this:
Your termination becomes effective 30 days after the next full rental payment is due, after we receive:
your completed Notice to Vacate request, and
valid official orders
Example (with clear dates)
If we receive your Notice to Vacate + orders on March 10, and your next full rent due date is April 1:
The 30-day period runs from April 1 through April 30
Your lease end date would be April 30 (the last day of April)
